MORE CHECKER PICTURES

Checker automobiles were manufactured only between 1920 and 1982.  Prior to 1959 Checker's production vehicles were built almost exclusively for the taxi business.  The Marathon was introduced in 1962, but ours (the blue one above) is a 1977.  The body style remained essentially the same throughout the entire production period.  The same is true for the 8-door Checker Aerobus, which was produced between 1966 and 1977.  Ours was made in 1974, in which year only 155 were produced.  The Aerobus was conceived as the first and only totally effective method of transporting 12 people for short or extended distances and with complete comfort, outstanding safety and true economy.
According to the March 1966 issue of Motor Magazine - "A subsidiary function of the Checker Aerobus seems to be to cheer people up.  Wherever it goes smiles spread across peoples' faces as they see such a long and elongated car."  We at Door County Green Bay Shuttle have found this to be true.
